WHY MONTESSORI

WHY MONTESSORI?

The Montessori Method of Education, developed by Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children. The Montessori Method views the child as one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. MONTESSIORI IN IRISFIELD SCHOOL Experiential Learning (“Learning by doing, or ‘’hands-on learning’’) permeates every part of the Irisfield Curriculum at all levels. It is an approach to education that actively engages students in relevant, authentic experiences that reinforce academic lessons or teach life skills. These hands-on experiences deepen a student’s understanding and have a lasting impact. Through experiential learning, students make discoveries and experiment with knowledge on their own instead of relying solely on the experiences of others. We follow the philosophy and principles of Maria Montessori throughout our teaching and learning process.
  • The children have a deep respect for themselves, their peers, the materials and the environment and this shows in how they interact amongst themselves in the environment
  • Our children demonstrate independence by taking responsibility of their learning.
  • Our learning process is hands-on with children learning concepts in different subject areas through working with Montessori materials.
  • The children learn and enhance skills such as self-esteem and self-confidence, concentration, coordination, independence, order, pincer grip, muscle development, visual discrimination, discrimination of weight and sizes etc.
  • We inculcate in our children grace and courtesy, given them the tools to become productive individuals who are capable of contributing positively to their society.
